EWART'S MILL CHOIR 1250
This is the choir of Ewart's Mill in Belfast getting their photograph after winning a cup for their singing in 1916.
Sadly the only person known in the photograph is Mary Dunn who is standing in the 2nd row and 2nd from the right.
EWART'S MILL 4525
This is one of many departments in Ewart's Mill on the Crumlin Road. It must have been a Saturday or a Sunday when this photo was taken.
EWART'S MILL 4524
Here we are inside Ewart's mill and the lady is operating a weaving machine back in 1930. The lady in the background is working a card machine which puts patterns on the linen by the massive cards you can see to the left in the background. The man standing there could be a foreman or perhaps a fitter having just fixed the machine and his spanners are still on the ground.

EWART'S MILL 4526
We are on the Crumlin road looking towards Ewart's Flax Spinning Mill on the right, one of the largest mills ever built. Here they did the spinning and weaving of the linen and their Headquarters was on Bedford Street. The workers were paid in the companies coinage which meant they could only buy goods from the company shops, nowhere else. That meant the company didn't lose any money.
