GALGORM CASTLE 748
Galgorm Castle in Ballymena in 1904.
As you can see by the tracks on the road no motor cars yet.
GALGORM ROAD 749
Some snow has fallen as it is still on the pavements but none on the road. Remember this is 1908 no gritter lorries then, I wonder how they did it. If you look at photo 4069 you will see that's it's the same except for a lady crossing the road. She's not as sharpe as the other people, that's because she's moving.
GALGORM CASTLE 1519
This is the front entrance of Galgorm Castle and although these men have gathered for a special photograph the young Fawn doesn't know what all the fuss
is about, she doesn't mind them getting their photograph taken with her. Well on the left the first gentleman is unknown then Capt. The Hon. A.O'Neill,
Sir J.Craig, Sir E.Carson, Right Hon. John Young, Capt. McCalmont and Sir W. Moore.
You see it was 1913 and Sir Edward Carson had set up a provincial government and these men were some of its members.
GIBSON BROTHERS 1127
These are two brothers on the left is Matthew Gibson and next to him is his brother James and they came from Ballymena. The year is unknown.
GLENS OF ANTRIM 1128
This is a group of People from Ballymena enjoying a day trip in the Glens of Antrim on the 26th June 1929.

GALGORM ROAD 4069
For this photograph the photographer has gone up onto the railway bridge to catch a glimpse of everyday life on the Galgorm Road in Ballymena, in the early 1900's. On the left on the pavement is a lady pushing a pram with the child well wrapped up, I wonder is she the mother or the governess. Across from her is a lady hurrying over the road with a bag in her hand, could she be the young lady of the house or a servant returning with thing asked for. On up the pavement is lady strolling along while further up is a gentleman in his bowler hat and suit striding along. Opposite him is a man standing up on his cart staring back at the man on a bicycle probably muttering to himself " Those contraptions will never be popular." On in front of him is a lady all dressed up as if she's going for a car ride with her hat tied down and carrying a blanket. We now come to right hand corner of the street and this shows life is not the same for everyone. These tow little boys could be brothers are well dressed but are in their bare feet. This most likely means the parents are just about able to pay for them to go to school and wearing shoes but can't afford another pair for them to go out and play in. Can you imagine what it must have been like in the winter months in your bare feet!
